    It’s obvious he knows that he has been a very bad boy, however, who could resist that sweet face!!!!

    I don’t see any toys in there for him to play with, and the area looks kinda small for a dog his size.
    If he has never chewed anything, why not trust him to roam freely while you’re gone? Try it a few times and see if anything happens.
    If you must lock him down, increase the holding area, and definitely give him some toys to occupy his time. Then, when you get home, take him outside and let him chase a ball for about an hour. Dogs have a lot of energy that must be released.
