My dog has to wear a metal prong collar. She pulls on anything else and backs out of every ‘no-slip’ close and harness. They are not bad unless you leave them on for an extended period of time or use them in an abusive way.

Why do people find the need to spout their opinions? Please just enjoy the site for its intended purpose. Everybody who posts on here loves their dogs and should feel free to post pics without fear of being belittled.

Prong collars are actually more humane than other “choke chain” style collars that pinch the dog in one spot. They are great for training purposes and should not be left on full time.

People who leave nasty comments are bad. Why don’t you mind your own business. It must be so nice to be as perfect as you. I enjoyed this site so much more before people had to start acting like the authority on all things dog!

it looks like she/he has two collars on. The dags are not hanging from the prong collar. My guess is they had just gotten home and wanted to take the picture. I have to have my boy on a prong collar sometimes too because he’s about 65 lbs heavier than I am. He walks perfectly on a leash but as a 2 year old saint still gets excited when he sees squirrels. They’re not bad and much more humane. Stop judging folks. I guarantee if we came into your home we’d find all sorts of things to complain about.

I second miss minkies. The judgemental comments on here are sooooo tiresome.

years ago my dog ate a tube of diaper cream off of my son’s changing table. she also ate a jar of vaseline, and was a greasy mess from licking it out of the jar. when I called the vet I mentioned the diaper cream first, and she was concerned because in those days the tubes were metal. so she told me, and I swear this is true, to see if I could get the dog to eat vaseline because it would lubricate her gastro tract. so we were good to go!!!!

My 15lb dachshund would have pulled me into on coming traffic if he hadn’t been wearing a pronged training collar. People really just need to do what is best for there own training technique and agree to disagree.

Prong collars, like almost anything, can be used improperly. On a strong breed, such as my doberman, they are a God send. My dog walks so nicely on his prong collar that my disabled father can walk him. He doesn’t pull at all. On the contrary, I see dogs pulling their owners across parking lots all the time. This causes much damage to the dog’s trachea, not to mention the owner’s back. So please, before you condemn, realize that prong collars are a tool, and not nearly as evil as people make them out to be.
