I agree, how is that a problem at all? Someone did a wonderful job training the little fellow, you should rejoice haha. Such a cute little guy, I can see how he stole your heart.

Put the crate in your bedroom if it’s not already there, then try putting the crate on the bed, then try leaving the door of the crate open . . .

My terrier mix was the same way for 13 years. She did not feel comfortable in my bed, even for a morning cuddle. She just liked having her own space for sleeping at night. Luckily, I have a very high bed, and she was happy underneath it so I got to hear her snoring and feel close.

Einstein is a beautiful boy. I agree that moving the crate to your room and may lead to his sharing your bed.

My dog will race into the bedroom to cuddle at night…but when she wants to actually go to bed for the night, she HAS to be in the crate.

Let him sleep where he is happiest. I had a dog who absolutely refused to get on my bed. Even when I lay on my bed and had my son put him on the bed beside me, he was clearly distressed. I let him stay on the floor and be a happy dog. If you want him near, do move the crate to your room. My current dog sleeps part of the night on my bed and part of the night on her bed which is under my bed.

My Pittbull initially slept on the floor, but unbeknownst to me she wanted to sleep in the bed. Eventually I figured it out, and she took over the bed for about a year. Now she does not sleep with me, but instead sleeps on a pillow next tot the my bed. Perhaps she thought I was a bed hog. 🙂 Now she gets up on my bed during the day to look out the window.

I had a lovely foster who wouldn’t get on the bed, or any furniture. All the others (including the little girl that I just “failed” with) have been quite happy to share my bed.

I have two dogs – the one I have had longest loves sleeping on the bed with me – the other dog who is much larger jumps on the bed when it is bedtime – then decides he is going to have far more room to himself if he goes back to the living room sofa. It is his nightly ritual!

We have one that is in the bed all night, and one that just visits. Our Jack-Chi-terror gets too hot, and makes a big deal about it. Our mini-doxie sleeps in…if he hasn’t woofed to be taken down, I wake him at 10. I’ve never had a dog that did that before…and haven’t heard of any other dog doing it either.
Cute coat, lovely dog…Congrats on failing!

Our mini-doxie loves to sleep in too! It’s always us waking him up for a walk and he even makes grumbly noises when you uncover him.

Sometimes I wish my doxie didn’t sleep in my bed with me…especially when the nights are warm…his little body sure gives off a lot of body heat!! I sure do like your dog’s little coat!!!

My heart breaks when my fosters leave, even though I know they are going to great homes; they all used to love to sleep with me, except my “failed” foster who found his forever home with me. But he loves to hop on the bed in the morning for his belly rubs.

We have the opposite problem with our January 2013 FAIL foster. She squeals (not a barker nor a howler) if we don’t let her sleep with us. Two adults, one 8 lbs mutt and a 15 mutt are a crowd on a queen sized bed 🙁
