LMAO! That is funny. My dog does the same thing, goes from sweet Papillon to rabid vampire bat. But after I start trimming, he finally relents. I have a muzzle, but I hate using it on him. Why can’t they just get used to it?

This is too funny and yet somewhat comforting as I go through a similar ordeal with my weinerdogs. They just don’t agree that their meathooks are ever too long! Even when they get caught up in our couch blankets-they still fight me! I’m going to try your swaddle idea. :o)

My chihuahua/min-pin is the same way; he sounds like a velociraptor when anyone tries to clip his nails. We found that the ‘Pedipaws’ device (sands down their nails instead of clipping) works well for him; he doesn’t love it, but he’ll tolerate it without the crazy noises and thrashing.

Oh, Migo so reminds me of my 18 lb. Italian Greyhound, Indy Blue! After my two sisters holding him down while I tried to clip his nails resulted in wounds to two of us, I resigned myself to the fact that Dr. Deppermann would be clipping his nails every six weeks, for the rest of his life (9 years, so far). Dr. Deppermann has a magic touch with my neurotic little boy. Of course, he has to take Indy into a back room, because he is more cooperative when no family is in sight!

It took 3 of us to clip my little Pixie’s claws…he only weighs 4lbs and has only 3 teeth, but thrashed and shrieked like a banshee. I now walk him on the road so I hope it won’t be necessary so much. He has such a tiny little snout there was no muzzle small enough…

try a little peanut butter at the end of the muzzle, keeps him busy until the end and makes it pleasurable 🙂

i have 2 Great Danes. the older one just sits there crying and whining but he doesnt fight it. HE is super verbal about how much he doesnt like it though. The other one tries to run away but we always manage to catch him. it takes 2 adults to pin him down to keep him from struggling. Afterward they act like it didnt happen and go about their merry way. lol

I have a Corgi/dachshund mix that will roll on her back and let me clip her nails. My 8 pound Chihuahua is a different story. I have to pin her between my legs while she screams bloody murder…

My dad has to her the “gloves” out which are heavy leather that go up to his elbows. My brother calls them “hawking gloves”. Only then can we pick up my sweet but very independent Japanese chin to trim her nails, trim the hair between her paws or any other grooming. Due to her flat face, a muzzle is useless. Now she knows, when the gloves come out, she is getting her nails clipped!

Speaking from a feline view……mine froths at the mouth……spews and hisses like all hellfire……then afterwards inspects the towel from which she has shredded and gives it the stink eye. When the vets do it she all meek and mild………and behaves. She is not ashamed that I have to pay the vet.

Best caption ever! I have three chihuahuas and whenever I trim their nails, my husband disappears and leaves me to it- I think he’s more traumatized than the dogs! One dog constantly pulls his paws out of my hand, one maneuvers her head between her paw and the clippers, and the third one simply tries to bite me. What should take only fifteen minutes ends up being an hour ordeal for all of us. Then once I’ve finished and they get turkey bits, it’s like nothing ever happened.
