Bless his heart… May he feel better knowing it’s just God letting us know he’s still near 🙂

Our dog Penny, half Jack Russell half Pug, associates her Thundershirt with thunderstorms and car rides. It used to help calm her, but now it just freaks her out. =(

Do yourself a huge favor and Google “Storm Defender Cape.” Read the information on their website about how/why it works, then buy one for your dog. I got one for my Italian Greyhound eight years ago and it has been a lifesaver. She was so terrified of thunderstorms that we were considering drugs to keep her from hurting herself. Wearing her little red jacket, she is able to sleep through most thunderstorms, as long as I am in the same room with her. I only wish it worked for firecrackers!

Sasha, you’d think good owners would bring a super pooch such as yourself milk and cookies while you’re guarding their drainpipe … Sheesh!

Poor guy. My GSD wears a storm defender cape, thunder shirt over that, and takes Valium and Acepromazine. She’s still scared, but not quite as bad.

Our dog, Buddy, became more anxious when we put the Thunder Jacket on him. We donated the jacket to our local shelter. At our local kennel we discovered Traveler’s Friend, dog treats that contain valerian and chamomile. They smell terrible and Buddy loves them. It helps to mellow him out during the storms without drugging him.

Awww what a sweetheart! That face is breaking my heart- if only they realized that their person’s arms would be the safest coziest place to be! Granted, my late German Shepherd hated storms and wouldn’t exactly fit on my lap.

Please look into getting a bottle of Dr. GoodPet Calm/Stress or Bach Rescue Remedy for PETS. There is also one for people too. I keep both of these on hand, depending on the behavior of my cats or dogs and they get a dropper full of the one I deem appropriate for the circumstance and they calm right down. I do as many holistic things for my animals as I can. There is also a whole set of Animal Flower Essences by Green Hope Farms you could look into as well.

Ah, hold poor Sasha. Thundershirts only worked a bit for my dog. Try Shen Calmer. Problem is, it has to be taken daily.

My Lucy loves her thunder shirt. She will crawl up on the couch and put her head in my lap. She has fallen asleep there but not when the storm is full throttle.
