It’s an easy mistake, Jacket…anyone could make it. Even Mom or Dad could walk up accidentally upon one of those nocturnal nature’s nasties!!!

    Skunk Rinse Recipe

Tomato juice isn’t nearly as effective as this recipe, and it’s easy to follow.

    In a pail mix:

1 quart hydrogen peroxide (the 3 percent hydrogen peroxide variety)
    ¼ cup baking soda
    2 teaspoons dishwashing liquid
If you have a large breed dog, you may need to double, triple or even quadruple the mixture.

Make it into a thick paste and smear it on. Try to leave it on for at least 5 to 10 minutes (depending on the dog that part can get interesting) and then rinse off. Don’t overdo the dishwashing liquid like I did or you’ll be rinsing forever. It really does work.

Had a Great Dane that used to carry Shit tzu’s around in his mouth. One night he picked up a what he thought was a Shit tzu and it wasn’t.. It was funny until he came in the house and got in bed. Needless to say he was upset he couldn’t sleep in bed anymore.. Have you ever given a Great Dane homemade tomatoe juice and listerine baths. We finally got rid of the smell but when his coat would get wet in the rain, he still would smell for a couple of months later. Good luck……

Bahahahahahahaha. That beats the time my cat got sprayed just outside the open living room window (ever washed a skunked cat? Not fun). The worst was when I was walking my neighbour’s Jack Russell and they started freaking at something in the bush. I went to look and got a full blast along with the dog. When you get it full in the face it’s like tear gas or something and my sense of smell (mercifully) shut down completely. Made me think I was deaf. Weird feeling.
