He could be afraid of the noise made by his tags hitting the bowl. Take his collar off and put something very motivating in the bowl and see what happens. He would have to learn that the bowl no longer makes the noise he is afraid of before he will consistently use it. Good luck. Please let me know if it works!

Just what I was going to suggest – or using a plastic bowl or dish for him. Lots of dogs have sound issues and their tags hitting the edge of bowls can be VERY upsetting for them.

My dog won’t eat out of a bowl either! We have to put his food on a place mat on the floor!

My cat refuses to eat off the ground. If she drops food out of her bowl onto the ground, it’ll stay there.

My dog takes a mouthfull of food from her bowl, spits it out onto the carpet and then eats the food nugget by nugget off the floor. It is quite the process to watch.

My miniature poodle does the same exact thing! Except he has to travel all the way across the room and eat on his bed. He usually makes about five trips until he’s done! Our dogs are so strange ❤️

My dogs used to do that. They would flip the bowl and eat off the floor, I bought a plastic mat and just pour the food right on it and they love it.

My dog does the same thing. He will not eat out of a metal bowl or if the bowl has shadows around it. Maybe trying a different type of bowl or moving it may help.\

Our husky, Ivory was the same way! If you put it in a bowl, he would pick up the edge and carry it outside…dropping kibble all the way out the doggie door!
